INTRODUCTION TO MEDITATION

INTRODUCTION TO MEDITATION
Standing meditation
This uses natural and simple movements of the body repeated to create a rhythm, this helps the body to release stress in a physical way. The movements which you remember and like are the ones which are best at this point in time. There is no need to do all the movements all the time.
Sitting meditation
This type deals mainly with the awareness and use of the mind to understand and reduce internal stress. There are three different states of mind to work with -
1. Everyday mind
2. Imaginative mind
3. Creative mind
Different methods and techniques can be used to become more aware and to work with each type.
Moving meditation
This type uses body and mind together and is nearer to how we live and work. This helps us to use the meditative techniques as part of our everyday living. The stepping helps to develop strength and balance in the legs and back, while the hand movements help strengthen and balance the nervous system and the internal organs.
The Irish Tai-Chi Chuan Association has developed several meditation tools which are available in the on-line store here
