STANDING MEDITATION PRINCIPLES

STANDING MEDITATION PRINCIPLES
Relax and settle into our body, legs and feet, adjust to feel comfortable
Feel as if we are balancing the front and back of our body, and the left and right sides of our body
From the ground, crate a naturally upright line through our body to the top of our head. Feel as if we are balancing our upper and lower body
Relax our shoulders and feel tensions roll or slide off
Naturally soften our chest, get a feeling of it being supple and mobile
Widen and open our upper back, encourage a feeling of strength without tension
Feel as if we are balancing our shoulders, chest and back
Carefully, begin straightening our spine, from between our shoulder-blades through our neck to the top of our head
Gently, keep our eyes closed and look straight ahead into the middle distance or find a point in our body to connect to
Very lightly, place our tongue on the roof of our mouth and relax our face
Feel as if we are balancing our upper back, eyes and face
Now, follow our breathing as it flows into our nose and into our body, feel that our body and breathing are moving together
Be aware of our lower spine, between our tailbone and kidneys, and feel it to be plumb upright
Imagine a line around our waist and feel as if we have that line balanced and level in all directions
Feel as if we are balancing our breathing, lower spine and waist
Finally then, soften our hands and feet, open our joints and muscles and feel a sense of space in our mind & body
